Getting started with VideoAskable
VideoAskable helps you ask questions about YouTube videos and get to the useful part faster. You can paste a YouTube link when you already know the video, or ask a question and let the app look for a relevant YouTube video.
VideoAskable searches YouTube captions. It may not be able to answer if captions are missing or inaccurate, or if the video is private, removed, or restricted.
Auto mode is a good place to start. Use Find moment when you want a specific point in a video. Use Summarize when you want a short overview.
- Find where a topic is explained.
- Get a short overview of a YouTube video.
- Locate steps in a tutorial.
- Check whether a video covers a specific topic.
What makes a good search?
Good searches are specific and focused. Ask about one topic, step, technique, or question at a time.
Use a YouTube link when you want an answer about one exact video. For a broader search, name the topic, app, sport, task, or skill clearly.
If your search has several parts, split it into separate searches. You will usually get better results from one clear question than from a long list of requests.
Too vague or too broad
- Summarize this and find every setup mistake and compare tools.
- Show me something from a video.
- Help me with email.
- That sports technique.
Good example
- Find a moment in an Excel tutorial where data validation is used to create a dropdown.
- Find a moment where a Copilot tutorial starts building an email-writing agent.
- Find a moment where a football coach explains how to control a kick.
- Summarize this video: [YouTube link]
Choosing a search mode
VideoAskable has three modes: Auto, Find moment, and Summarize.
Auto chooses a mode based on your question. Use it when you're not sure which mode to pick.
Find moment is for jumping to a relevant point in a YouTube video. Summarize is for getting a short overview of a YouTube video.
If you want a timestamp or a specific example, choose Find moment. If you want the main idea of the video, choose Summarize.
Examples
- Where does this tutorial explain how to create an Excel dropdown? [YouTube link]
- Find a moment where a football coach explains a kicking technique.
- What are the main points of this video? [YouTube link]
Why no results were found
Sometimes VideoAskable cannot find a useful result. This can happen when the app cannot find a YouTube video that clearly matches your question, or when the selected video cannot be processed well enough to answer.
If the video is private, removed, age-restricted, region-blocked, members-only, restricted by YouTube, or not usable enough for reliable analysis, VideoAskable may not be able to return a good answer.
- Make your question more specific.
- Ask about one topic at a time.
- Paste the YouTube link directly if you already know the video.
- Use full product, app, sport, or topic names instead of unexplained abbreviations.
- Try asking for a moment, step, or technique instead of a broad comparison.
Examples
- Find a moment in an Excel tutorial that shows how to create a pivot table from spreadsheet data.
Why a video won't play or can't be searched
Some YouTube videos cannot be shown or processed inside VideoAskable. This is usually caused by YouTube settings, uploader settings, or video availability.
When embedded playback is blocked, you may still be able to open the video on YouTube. VideoAskable does not control YouTube availability, uploader settings, or platform restrictions.
- The uploader or YouTube blocks embedded playback.
- The video is private, removed, age-restricted, region-blocked, live-only, or members-only.
- Captions are missing, inaccessible, or too inaccurate to answer your question.
- YouTube changes access to the video after you search.
Credits, free searches, and billing
Searches use credits. Ask More questions about a result are included in that search and do not use additional credits. The current search cost is shown in the credits panel.
Monthly subscription credits roll over for one additional billing period, up to 6,000 plan credits. Yearly subscription credits normally expire 12 months after they are granted. Top-up credits normally expire 12 months after purchase. Credits that expire first are used first. Free, promotional, trial, or bonus credits expire on the date shown for the offer.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel before renewal. Cancellation stops future renewals and normally takes effect at the end of the paid billing period. Monthly plan credits remain available only through the end of that paid subscription term, while top-up credits keep their original validity.
Search credits are reserved when a search starts. If the search fails or returns no answer, the reserved credits are automatically returned, even if AI processing has already started. A completed answer uses the displayed search credits.
If a completed answer uses the wrong video or misses your question, report the result so we can review the search and its credit charge.
Consumers in the EEA may have a statutory right to withdraw from an online purchase within 14 days. You can exercise this right by emailing contact@manicnovasoftware.com. A proportionate charge may apply if you asked us to begin providing the Service during the withdrawal period.
Credits are not cash, gift cards, or bank deposits. See the Terms and the information shown at checkout for the rules that apply to your purchase.
Search history and account data
Your searches are saved automatically in search history, including your question, the video link, and the result.
Use the history panel to reopen, archive, restore, or delete a search. Deleting it removes its history entry and Ask More conversations. The original search question and result remain until routine cleanup or account deletion.
Search history is not a promise that a YouTube video will always stay available. YouTube videos can be edited, removed, made private, or restricted after your search.
Saved search content is normally kept for up to 365 days. Account deletion and records needed for support, security, fraud prevention, legal claims, or legal obligations are covered in the Privacy Policy.
To delete your account, open Account and choose Delete account. For other privacy requests or help, email contact@manicnovasoftware.com. We may need to verify your identity before making account or data changes.
